RESEARCH INTERESTS

My field of research is Hadronic Physics, i.e., the physics of protons, neutrons, and the like. In particular, the topic of my research work is the spin structure of hadrons.
We know that protons and neutrons are made of quarks and gluons but we are far from understanding their inner structure in a satisfactory way. One of the fundamental problems to be answered is: where does the spin of the hadrons come from? Answering this and similar questions is the ultimate goal of my research field.

  1. An overview of Hadronic Physics can be found in this e-print.
  2. An overview of Hadronic Spin Physics can be found in this review article.
  3. Nice and recent books about my field of research are "Spin in Particle Physics" by E. Leader, and "Transverse Spin Physics" by V. Barone and P. Ratcliffe for the specific case of transversity.
  4. A lot of information about spin physics has been gathered by the RIKEN BNL Spin Physics collaboration
  5. Experimental collaborations investigating hadronic spin are: HERMES at DESY,PHENIX and STAR at RHIC, COMPASS at CERN, CLAS at JLab.

MY WORK

I work within the "Hadronic Structure and QCD" (HaS_QCD) research group in Pavia, Italy.

From inspirehep.net you can retriew all my public published and unpublished works.

For a list of talks I gave at international conferences and workshops, look here.

Here is a copy of my Ph.D. dissertation. If you wish to have a hard copy, contact me.

TEACHING ACTIVITIES

Quantum Electrodynamics

Since 2012 I teach the course of Quantum Electrodynamics for the Master Programme in Physics at the University of Pavia.

The lectures of the Winter Semester 2014 will start on October 16th at 14:00, in A201.

Here you can find the lecture notes of the 2014/2015 course (errata will be available here). Please, send me corrections and feedback.

Soft Skills for Graduate Students

Since 2010 I teach a course on soft skills with the help of some external experts. The course is offered to graduate students enrolled into the PhD progam in Physics at the University of Pavia. Most of the course is devoted to the improvement of presentation skills. Part of the course is devoted to time management skills and career planning.

Material relevant for the course is posted on a blog.
